I purchased an engraving machine last week. I have lots of plans for this baby. I'll use it primarily for engraving wedding rings and crosses. No more crooked or half stamped letters! But I also hope to do some designs that use engraving as a focal point.
This is an "old school" engraver, it's not electric, just hand powered. It works on the principle of a pantograph. With one hand I trace the letters in the tray. With the other hand I put pressure on a diamond tip to scrape the metal away. I have both Block letters and Script fonts. I might even make my own fonts and symbols. The fonts are just pierced stencils in thick brass, not hard to do at all. I'm excited at the possibilities! A new tool always means new designs!
